A princess (Audrey Hepburn) abandons her royal duties to explore Rome with an American reporter (Gregory Peck).
Every bit as charming as Hepburn herself (who boasts one of the most infectious smiles in film history). Didn’t really get why Peck’s character felt obliged to spin such an elaborate web of lies. Marvellous ending.
Verdict: it’s a “ringer” - effortless charm
